What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are changing the way people live. They are designed to provide a solid foundation for replacement teeth which look, feel and function like natural teeth. People who have lost teeth can regain the ability to function with naturally appearing teeth giving them increased confidence with a smile that lasts.

The implants themselves are titanium screws, which are surgically inserted into the jawbone where teeth are missing. These titanium screws act as substitutes for the roots of your teeth. The bone is attracted to the titanium surface, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. Implants also help preserve facial structure, preventing bone deterioration that occurs when teeth are missing.

Some people who wear dentures experience the dentures slipping or moving around in their mouth, which can make speaking and chewing difficult.
