Jonathon Schofield BDS DPDS MFGDP(UK) MSc (Dental Implantology) GDC No: 60471

Jonathon, the founder of The Dental Implant Clinic, graduated from Bristol University in 1986. He has over twenty years of experience in the field of Dental Implantology. His training has been in the UK, Switzerland and Germany. His particular interests are implants in the cosmetic zone – making implants imperceptible from natural teeth. Jonathan lectures throughout the UK and internationally on dental implant matters. He is a part-time Senior Lecturer at The University of Bristol and is Course Director for The University of Bristol MSc in Dental Implantology. He is also a Fellow of the International Team of Implantologists (ITI), which is a group of academics and clinicians who are dedicated to research and teaching in implantology.

Jonathon has assembled the below team of dental practitioners to assist in his aim of providing the best possible care to patients at The Dental Implant Clinic.

Elliott Ballantyne

Full biography

Elliott graduated with a degree in Dental Science from Trinity College Dublin in 2003. He is also a graduate of the Trinity College Dublin, with a degree in Physiology, and a Member of the Faculty of Dentistry of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Elliott has participated in several internationally recognised courses in Germany, Switzerland and France. Through his studies, Elliott has gained extensive knowledge and clinical experience in all aspects of implant dentistry but has a special interest in bone physiology including bone augmentation/grafting. He completed his MSc in Dental Implantology at the University of Bristol in 2013 with distinction. Elliott is registered with both the UK and Irish Dental Councils. He is a member of the faculty of dentistry in the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland, the International Team for Implantology and Irish Dental Association.

Pratik Patel

Full biography

Pratik was awarded his undergraduate degree from Cardiff where he gained a first-class honours in his Batchelor of Dental Surgery degree. Since qualifying he has worked as a Senior House Officer in oral surgery and in in paediatric dentistry at The Eastman Dental Institute in London. Subsequently, Pratik has practiced as a general dental practitioner and implant dentist. In 2018 he completed his MSc in Dental Implantology, in which he gained a distinction. Pratik joined the team at The Dental Implant Clinic in January 2019. Pratik is the study club director for The Young Dentists Study Club, designed to promote excellence in teaching for younger dentists in the region.

Damian Korzuch

Full biography

Damian is a registered Specialist in Oral Surgery with more than 20 years’ post-qualification experience in private practice and public health care. He started his career with eight years in a hospital maxillofacial ward performing a range of surgical procedures. Latterly he has a particular interest in aesthetic dentistry and a strong foundation in general dentistry. Damian also has advanced training in dental implants and in the provision of high standard aesthetic solutions with the emphasis on pink tissue rehabilitation.

Damian’s areas of expertise include oral surgery, periodontology & endodontics, implantology and aesthetic dentistry.

Leoni Papageorgopoulou

Full biography

Leoni graduated from the Dental School of Athens, Greece in 2008. Since that time, Leoni has gained valuable experience in advanced dentistry, collaborating in five different dental practices in Greece. In 2010 she enrolled in the MClinDent in Endodontology Masters programme at UCL, Eastman Dental Institute, which she completed in 2013. As part of her postgraduate training she conducted a research project in microbiology and disinfection of the root canal system, in relation to its complex anatomy. Leoni joined The Dental Implant Clinic in 2014 and has always been dedicated in making root canal treatment a pleasant experience, via her gentle manner and her knowledge of safe strategies to save teeth.

Having graduated from the University of Bristol in 2010, Liz has now completed her Speciality training in Restorative Dentistry and will be splitting her time between working at The Dental Implant Clinic and at the University of Bristol as a Consultant Senior
Lecturer. Liz has interests in advanced restoration of mouths with multiple failing teeth and missing teeth. She also has extensive experience in the construction of dentures, partial dentures and implant retained and supported dentures. She has extensive experience in the use of dental implants including zygomatic implants, and has published widely in peer reviewed journals.

Libby Boone

Full biography

Libby gained her undergraduate degree from the University of Bristol and after completing her vocational training was asked to stay by her training practice. Having gained experience in private and NHS dentistry she completed three year’s specialist training at the prestigious Eastman Dental Hospital in London. She has now been admitted onto the specialist list in Prosthodontics. Her key skills include: management of severely broken-down teeth and their restoration with composite, ceramo-metal or ceramic restorations; aesthetic dentistry using whitening, composite and veneers; replacement of missing teeth with partial or full dentures; and treating the whole mouth when there are a number of things going wrong at one time (full mouth rehabilitation).

Christian Day is a Consultant Orthodontist at Bristol Dental Hospital. He is also an honorary clinical lecturer the University of Bristol. His consultant role involves the management of patients with complex malocclusions. This includes regular multidisciplinary clinics with OMFS, Oral Surgery, and Restorative Dentistry colleagues. The consultation and multidisciplinary clinics are attended by postgraduate students from many specialties and undergraduate students.

Tony graduated from Guys Dental Hospital in 1982 and returned there in 1985 to do his specialist training in orthodontics, qualifying as a specialist in 1988. A further 3 years of postgraduate orthodontic training as a Senior Registrar enabled him to become a Consultant in Orthodontics in 1992, when he came to Bath. In 2014 he was awarded a Chair from The University of Bristol. Tony teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate dental students in orthodontics and lectures widely. He is past Chairman of the Developments and Standards committee of the British Orthodontic Society and is the Principal UK expert in orthodontic materials on three International Standards Organisation committees. He is co-author of 2 orthodontic textbooks and has published over 50 articles on orthodontics and related dental subjects in national and international journals.
