NEW Surgical course for 2013

Hands-on Live Surgery on Patients in the UK

This is a totally new course for 2013 which will allow dentists to have an intensive week placing dental implants in pre-selected patients.

This course is limited to four dentists and is designed for dentists who have a lot of theoretical knowledge of dental implants but would like to gain some intensive surgical experience.

The four delegates will work in pairs. The pairs will alternate between being an operator and  an assistant, with one- to-one tutor supervision at all times. Each pair of dentists will treat eight patients and place a minimum of eight implants implants (four each).

Course Structure:

Day 1

All of the 16 patients will be presented to the course participants. Each patient will be supplied with a full history, radiographs, CT scans where relevant, diagnosis and treatment plan along with surgical guides, clinical photographs and study models. The delegates will select their implants and plan their surgical approach with the tutors.

Days 2,3,4 and 5

The delegates will work in pairs in a dedicated implant theatre along with their tutor. Each delegate will place one implant each day and supervise for one implant each day.

Included in the course are:

  • All implants
  • All grafting materials
  • Top of the range implant kits and surgical instruments
  • Gala dinner on the Wednesday night
  • Dine and learn with your tutors on two evenings
  • University of Bristol Log-book to record your record of experience.

Cost per delegate: £5400 plus VAT

The first implant nurses’ course gets off to a flying start

The Dental Implant Clinic’s first Basic Implant Training Course for nurses was held on 10th May. Nurses from all over the South West attended. This course is unique because it is written by experienced implant nurses and therefore views the various stages of the patients’ implant journey from a nursing perspective.

As The Dental Implant Clinic is the largest implant centre in the South West, the course gives nurses a realistic view of how to organise their own implant set up.

The next Basic Implant Nurses’ Course will be held on Saturday 12th July 2014. For more information and booking information click here:  Dental Implant Nurses’ Course

New Information Leaflet on Gum Disease

The Dental Implant has compiled a new brochure: Gum Disease – The Facts.

Gum Disease - The FactsStrong gums are vitally important prior to the successful placement of dental implants and any other dental treatment. Our periodontal lead is Fernando Gonzalez-Eriksson, whose specialist 3-year training in Periodontics was at the world renowned Eastman Dental Institute in London. He joined The Dental Implant Clinic in 2013, and he has already treated many patients with gum disease.

New Coffee Machine at The Dental Implant Clinic

After fourteen years of sterling service our coffee machine needs to be replaced.

We have invested in a Nespresso machine which will give our patients a range of coffees. You can now have a lungo (longer drink) or an espresso. There is also a choice of strengths of coffee.

For those who want to to drink tea our staff at reception are happy to oblige. We still have our fridge with chilled water for those who prefer a cold drink.

Celebrating 10 years as a University of Bristol Teaching Centre

Many of The Dental Implant Clinic’s team attended The University of Bristol Masterclass on 21st November. The Dental Implant Clinic has now been a University of Bristol Teaching Centre for ten years. During that time we have helped to train two hundred implant dentists. By teaching others we are constantly improving our own techniques and keeping at the forefront of our subject.
